One-Day Workshop for Kindergarten Teachers

This institute is designed for beginning through advanced users of Interactive White Boards (SMART Boards).

Participants need to bring their own laptops with Notebook software already loaded in (**Notebook 10.9 for a Windows  and  Notebook 10.8 for a Mac). There is also a catered lunch provided.

Program Description

A one-day Interactive Whiteboards summer institute for Kindergarten teachers focusing on designing and creating interactive teaching and learning experiences for young children.

Learn how to use Interactive Whiteboards in motivational and engaging ways throughout the school day and in various curriculum areas. Teachers will work on developing literacies and learning strategies that can be used with 5- and 6-year old students in the first weeks of school and throughout the year.

The Institute student/instructor ratio will be approximately 15:1. Come collaborate with others teaching with Interactive Whiteboards.

+Instructors

Both instructors, Monica Lee and Gina Wong are presently teaching Full Day Kindergarten in Vancouver School District. They have both been teaching and creating learning lessons with SMART Boards for Kindergarten children for a number of years. Come and learn from their experience and expertise.

Monica Lee, Master of Educational Technology

  • Monica teaches at David Livingstone Elementary School and is working on a teacher inquiry into how SMART Boards can support learning for primary students, especially in the areas of oral language and written expression.

Gina Wong, M.A, Curriculum and Instruction

  • Gina teaches at Nightingale Elementary School, is pursuing her doctorate in technology supporting teaching and learning, and is working on a teacher inquiry into SMART Boards developing students' literacies.

This is a non-credit 1-day institute.  Seats are available on a first-come-first served basis, early registration is recommended.

Registration Fee:  $125.00 (includes lunch and refreshments)
+ HST (12$%):  $15.00

TOTAL = $140.00
