| Course | Location | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Environmental Science Education SCED 380 (3-cr) |
UBC | Curriculum implications of physical and biological environmental issues. Field experiences are normally part of the course. |
| Computer-based Science Education SCED 412 (3-cr) |
UBC | A wealth of tested educational technologies is available to teachers yet few new or practicing teachers have had the necessary opportunities to learn how to integrate the technology in their teaching. Technology applications are especially plentiful and useful for learning about science within a constructivist framework. |
| Earth and Space Science Beyond the Textbook SCED 420 (3-cr) |
MacMillan Space Centre | Using resource materials from the Engaging Science program and the facilities of the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, participants will explore earth and space science for themselves. They will also develop their understanding of experiential science education and child-centered methodology. |
| Life Science Beyond the Textbook SCED 421 (3-cr) |
Vancouver Aquarium | This course is built on the resources of the Engaging Science program, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center and the surrounding ecosystems of the Burrard Inlet. It will provoke new ways of thinking about life science through a variety of instructional styles, field experiences and hands-on classroom activities. |
| Physical Science Beyond the Textbook SCED 422 (3-cr) |
Science World | A new perspective on physical science will be developed in this course, drawing upon the resources of Engaging Science and the facilities of Science World. Participants will discover, interpret and practice science in personal, everyday ways. |
