
The Department of Language and Literacy at UBC offers an MEd program in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). The program offers professional development to school teachers by developing an awareness of current thought and practice in literacy and TESL education. Students gain experience and understanding in such areas as:
The program requires a minimum of 30 credits of approved graduate work, at least 24 of which must be numbered 500 or above. The program can be completed within 7-8 terms (2.5 years), with courses scheduled to accommodate practicing teachers and administrators.

Program fees will be paid over a minimum of eight (8) installments of $1,583.66 plus applicable student fees, payable in September, January and May of each of the three years. The program total is $12,669.30 plus applicable student fees.
Tuition fees are in Canadian dollars, are reviewed annually by the UBC Board of Governors, and are subject to change.
