The Digital Literacy Centre in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, UBC Faculty of Education, is offering practical, hands-on workshops exploring the value of digital technologies for teachers and students.
These workshops will guide participants in hands-on sessions to understand the possibilities of using collaborative software in the classroom, and offer a number of examples that can be implemented in the classroom.

SMARTboards - Interactive Whiteboards Instructor: Melanie Wong SMARTboards?! Are you kidding? SMARTboards are a valuable tool in any classroom! They are effective at increasing student motivation and increasing attention to the task. They are an innovative and powerful tool for language acquisition and also an effective tool to use with students with disabilities. If you have ever wondered how to use a SMARTboard, then this is your chance to learn. The one-day workshop will focus on the basics of use, exploring in an interactive, hands-on format, the beneficial capabilities of Smart Technologies Notebook software, and how the board works with software like Microsoft Office or for presentation display. There will also be a discussion on practical classoom applications. |
